Lodge-Based Hunt
This hunt provides all the comforts of home for your backcountry adventure. You just bring your personal items listed in our Equipment section and come ready to hunt. Your week-long hunt will be based out of our Sportsman's Lodge on the picturesque Serpentine Lake, featuring private quarters, on-site chef, indoor plumbing, and more. We use a combination of boats, Argos and good, old-fashioned walking to get you to prime moose-hunting grounds from the lodge. This is an easier hunt physically than our fly-out option.
Fly-Out Hunt
This hunt is one of the few dedicated trophy moose hunts in Newfoundland. It takes place at our spike camps on both the North Arm Hills and Blow Me Down as well as some remote cabins in the Serpentine Valley. These hunting concessions are found in MMA 5 and MMA 6 located on the province’s dramatic west coast. These are helicopter-accessible operations only with some of the highest densities of moose on the entire island. On an good day, our clients will see in excess of 20 moose. We have a 95%+ success rate on opportunity for bulls over 40”. Our average is around 45”, and every year we take down one or two bulls in excess of 50”. Because of our remote location, there is no local hunting pressure. This combined with our selective harvest keeps our trophy quality high. This is a more physically demanding hunt than the lodge-based hunt.
More About Our Hunting Packages
The cost of each hunt is all-inclusive, including licensing. Provincial taxes are extra. Our hunts are based on a 2 on 1, client to guide ratio. The lodge based hunt is Sunday to Saturday offering and flyout hunts are Sunday to Sunday All scheduled helicopter travel, meals and lodging, field-care of your meat and trophies are included. We retrieve your trophy/meat by helicopter and deliver to the buther/taxidermist as required. Any cost associated with getting here, meals and lodging before and after your hunt, butchering and shipping is not included. Personal items, alcohol (in moderation), early departure, etc., are not included.
We offer two styles of hunt. During the first two weeks of our season, the style of hunting is where we go to the moose. During the rut, we can normally get the moose to come to us. It boils down to your preferred style of hunting. The first and second weeks are especially of interest to bow hunters. The first week, the moose tend to stay put and the spotting and stalking method works quite well. During the third week, the bulls tend to be very receptive to calling and the shooting can be very up close and personal.
Fishing Trip
We host Atlantic salmon and sea-run trout fishing trips into our Sportsman's Lodge on Serpentine Lake throughout the summer months. You will explore the pools of the Serpentine River and enjoy heart-racing fishing in a pristine, remote environment with Newfoundland meals made fresh by our chef.
Fishing/Bear Hunt Combo
Come fight the feisty Atlantic salmon and sea-run trout with a hefty side of black bear hunting all from the scenic comforts of our Sportsman's Lodge. This hunt takes place during the last week of June and beginning of July. There is no lack of excitement on this trip, encountering some thrilling wildlife, all the while living in comfort and beauty on the Serpentine Lake.
